A candle light vigil and lantern floating will be held on Saturday August 9th, 7:30pm at the nuclear rock on the ISU campus next to Hamilton Hall. As indicated by the inscription on nuclear rock, "On this site between 1942 and 1946 over 2,000,000 pounds of uranium metal were produced for the Manhattan District Project..."

In conjuction with this event, the film World at War will be shown at the Ames Public Library on Wednesday August 6th at 7:00pm.

Both the Mayor of Hiroshima and the Mayor of Nagasaki have sent letters supporting the memorial held in Ames and reiterating the importance of global nuclear disarmament. Please read their letters below:
